The 10th Anniversary Pleven Friendship Marathon will be held on May 19

The event raises funds for a student scholarship in Medical University – Pleven

On May 19, 2024 (Sunday), one of the most attractive running competitions in the country will be held – the Pleven Friendship Marathon. The tenth, anniversary edition of the event offers a wide selection of disciplines – running from 10 to 42.2 km, relay, children’s race Fun Run Kids, 3 km free city cross and outdoor games Park+.

As a tradition, 10-th Pleven Friendship Marathon has a charitable cause. This year, the event raises funds to secure a scholarship for a student at the Medical University, Pleven, as part of the BCause Foundation’s “Ready for Success” campaign. The financial aid is intended for students with excellent academic records, who have lost one or both parents or grew up in a specialized institution.

“With the tenth anniversary edition of the Pleven Friendship Marathon, we decided to once again support a future doctor – a young person who chose medicine as his path to success and the vocation to help,” says Stanimira Georgieva from “Eyes Open”, co-organizer of the event.

The charitable cause can be supported by anyone wishing to make a donation.

In addition to helping noble causes, the PlevenFriendship Marathon will once again encourage more people to turn to a more active lifestyle. The event is held in a format that attracts both experienced and novice runners, aged between 2 and 85. Participants have a wide choice of six main disciplines – classic marathon (42.2 km), half marathon (21.1 km), relay (2 x 10.5 km), the popular 10 km, as well as a children’s race Fun Run Kids and 3-kilometer mass cross “I can”.

The Pleven Friendship Marathon is not only a competition for established athletes, but also an event that aims to provoke everyone in the family and community to practice sports. That is why, during the event, visitors can participate in group activities in 10 popular and lesser-known sports without age and physical fitness restrictions within the Park+ initiative.

Registration for the marathon is already open, and until March 8th those who wish can register at a preferential rate. For children who join Fun Run Kids, participants in the 3-kilometer mass cross “I can”, people with disabilities and veterans over the age of 60, registration is free of charge.

The 10-th Pleven Friendship Marathon in is organized by leading foundations and social enterprises in Bulgaria, whose main mission is to support people in a disadvantaged position and with different abilities: “Eyes Open“, Sports Club “To Run”, “Maria’s World” foundation , “Social Future – Jamba” Foundation, National Alliance for Social Responsibility, in partnership with Pleven Municipality, Sports Club “Elite Running” from Romania, Bulgarian Association for Persons with Intellectual Disabilities, BCause Foundation, Autism Today, and with the support of many companies for which corporate and social responsibility, contribution to building a fair social environment and a sustainable future are at the core of their business.
